Septembers Just for Fun DT entry

Theme was Autumn Colours

This is my September entry for my Just For Fun DT entry , the theme was Autumn colours and at first was unsure what to do.

But I thought about what Autumn means to me - and this was the result.

I don't use a lot of digi images , or pre printed sheets - I like to create from mainly recycling items or Cutting and designing it myself.

I made this card from a pale green flower & butterfly printed backing sheet , on top of that I layered a sheet of vellum which has tiny specks of brown and silver confetti blended in it.
The tree was cut by hand from handmade paper, each branch individually stuck on .
The leaves I embossed using an embossing tool and cut them out individually .
Once these were stuck to the tree - I added a small silver owl charm , a wooden apple - a few red & orange gems to look like berries . The brown leaves I gave a little gold glitter too and added a few gold sequins , a few paper flowers and a couple of extra leaves on the ground to look like they had fallen.

I hope you like the result - although simple I think it's quite affective and I like the result .

My first entry to Just For Fun challenge as a Design Team member

Just For Fun - August challenge
The theme was 'Anything Goes'

I thought i would try something different as a design team member, so I decided to create an altered canvas using my favourite colour lilac and dragonflies/ butterflies as the theme which I love.

This was the result -

This was made using a combination of layers of paper mâché quality lilac serviette , left over from my wedding and  peachy / pink  silky  material  or torn or cut accordingly and pva in place.
On top of this I hand tore a combination of white , stone , and cream coloured hand made papers all  with threads of gold and metlic colours trailing through them.   In contrast to this I also glued some areas with a lilac paint splattered material mesh webbing, and then left it all to dry.

After it was dry I stamped in certain areas with a dark lilac textured ink flower head stamp and other areas a tiny gold leaf stamp , on to this I applied a fe cut out decoupaged butterflies .

The dragonfly was created from firstly hand cutting the wing shapes from an  pink pearlised and iridescent  backing paper - the wings were then glued to the canvas , I made the body  from a few  remaining stones and gems I had from an old necklace  and the tail was made from a cut off section of and old bracelet - finished off with a silver metal bead .

A few old silver metal butterfly earrings were detached from their fastenings  and added to the canvas along with  a scattering of  tiny silver metal flower head beads.

The whole canvas was then covered in a covering of sparkly mod podge and left to dry and harden.

To finish I covered the outside edge with a dark purple silk ribbon and the outside edge of the frame face with a cut down piece of lilac florist webbed ribbon.

I hope you like the result , I was pleased with my first ever altered art canvas.

A card I made a few weeks back but forgot to blog

This was for Mad crafters Gigglers Challenge
I think the theme was flowers

A quick make ( as I never have much time ) but I love the finish .

Especially the bird in its bird cage , I love these at the moment and it seem very trendy at present to use birds , owls etc.

Isn't it funny how different themes become popular ?

Last nights entry to Mad crafters Gigglers challenge

One word wonder challenge
Word was 'Animals'

This was my entry to last nights challenge .
I've had a few weeks off of crafting as I've been so busy with end of school stuff with my kids and making orders of Thankyou Teacher wrapped Cupcakes that I sell .

So theme yesterday was Animals - I didn't have that much time before challenge ended at 9pm, so thought I'd do a fairly quick make with a per cut hippo decoupage .

I started off with a piece of dark blue velum as backing , then cut lengths of textured and shaped ribbons and cut curvy strips of a pink shimmery iridescent backing paper and layered them on top of the blue velum to look like a shimmery sea . I layered the edges of the velum with a dark blue ribbon and on top of that a thinner lilac coloured flower printed sticky ribbon.

The hippo decoupage was put together with sticky squares and placed on top of the shimmery effect layered sea .

I finished it all off with a printed ''Happy Birthday' paper edging ribbon , lots of blobs of sparkles to look like stars in a night sky , a few colourful flower buttons I cu the backs of and glued down and a Sister printed card wording , mounted on sticky squares to stand out .

This was made for my sisters birthday in September , I hope she likes it xx

A little bit of Nautical for the summer

Another card entered into Mad Crafters Gigglers
Daily Tic Tac Toe challenge

And on this day I won , with the simple but pleasing card

Simply made on an 8x8 scalloped edged card , double mounted with 2 different but coordinating nautical backing papers . On top of this I placed a yellow/ cream ribbon across the card to pick out the tones in the papers.
The image is cut off a previously received greeting card which I trimmed down to leave just the part of the image I wanted, I added a few tiny shells from my local beach to add a 3d element to the card.
A couple of buttons were then added with. Coordinating ribbon trim on top , a few half backed pearls added to the image and a 'enjoy' word stamp to the images bottom right hand corner ( a stamp I used previously in my Step dads Birthday card) .

Over all I love the result but then I love anything nautical xx

A quick card

This is a quick card I made for my step fathers Birthday

Made from an A5 card with a blue / grey sky coloured backing paper
The edges were covered with a floral bordered green ribbon to give the idea of flowers climbing up the sides of the garden.
The shed , plant pits , tools & flower heads are all sizzix die cut and the shed door finished off with a simple brass brad.
I then cut a cloud shape and stamped the word 'enjoy' and mounted it on sticky squares, I simply then added a few 3d paper flowers to the plant pot , a birthday wishes wording to the shed door and a couple of flat backed wooden bugs flying above.

Very simple , but quite affective and my father in laws cats loved playing with the bugs trying to prize them off the card lol .

Another entry into Mad Crafters Giggles challenge

This was for a tic tac toe challenge
I used torn paper , blue & green as my 3 required elements for the challenge

I don't own a torn paper tool , so I tore the different colours and types of paper & card for the sea - by hand . I chalked the background around it and added a sun , then chalked on a few deck chairs and towels on the beach.
The light house & house by the sea were cut from a previously received greeting card , as well as the boat.
